Best city in Colombia to visit?

It all depends on what you want to do. If you like the sea think about Santa Marta or Cartagena. Cartagena is particularly beautiful and historical. I would avoid Barranquilla like the plague. I found it very unattractive. It is very industrial. It was my least favorite place in Colombia. I love the feel of Medellin. It is no longer dangerous at all. The people and the food were fabulous! Bogotá has some great museums and is a vibrant city. As someone else said, Colombia does not seem racist in the least. I have traveled extensively in South America and Colombia is my favorite country! Enjoy!

Bogota is too cold, i was there a few months ago and its destroyed!! the streets are a mess and the city is a complete chaos!

i would really recommend Medellin specially in the beginning of august, they have the "Feria de las Flores" which means the fair of flowers, its a BEAUTIFUL event. The climate is amazing, its not too cold nor too hot, the people are incredibly nice, and there are a lot of things to do even if you don't go for the fair.

Its very safe, its NOTHING like they make it sound on the news, there's a lot of tourism and I'm sure you can find a great tourism guide, they have a lot of tourism companies. And don't worry about you brother's skin color.

however, If you want to go to the beach i would recommend Cartagena, I've only been there once so there's not much i can say about it but it's very pretty and there is also a lot to do

The bigger cities in Colombia are all very different. The climate - The people - The way they talk.

For music and dances I like Barranquilla. Very similar to being on an island in the Caribbean.

Bogota is much more conservative. Even the way they dress, Hard to say but Medellin - in spite of all the problems is a great city and if I had to pick, that would be my choice. BTW: Don't worry about the color of your brother's skin. Colombia is certainly one of the least racist country's in the whole world.

No, Bogota is really cold and Barranquilla is not an attractive place. Medellin is the best city.

I suggest you Medellin and Bucaramanga.
