How would I burn in Hell when my body is buried in the ground?

The penance of death, if you don't get into heaven, is apparent. Torture, anguish, burning, pain... whatever. The one thing I don't get is this, when you die and your body is left behind how can you feel pain & torture when you have no body to be tortured? Your soul simply CANNOT feel any physical pain. Anguish and anxiety are only available when you don't know the out-come of a situation (which I think you do, when you're given an eternity in hell).

Just wondering how the religious can explain this little loophole to me... Evidence will be very necessary for this one...!

Update:

I forgot to add, how can you burn for eternity at god's will when he loves you and created you? " I love you and I created you, but I am now denying you entry into heaven based on the idea that I had about allowing you to have all the power & free will I created for you to choose, which you chose & I am now punishing you for." I believe this is called a juxtaposition.

"You will now burn in a lake that I made in order to throw Lucifer into and I will now give your soul to him (albeit worthless) and he will torture you for eternity (even though it isn't possible as you're soul is incapable of physical pain), but remember, I LOVE YOU". Wot a crock, eh?!

Update 2:

@Frankinsense... for all your quotes you have explained NOTHING. Please do not quote any more religious BS until; you can thoroughly explain what I have asked of you, Otherwise you just make a mockery of yourself. This is the one thing I have tried to protect you from by asking for evidence.

Update 3:

@ben millgate - you are an idiot! sorry to say it, but you are! If thats wot you believe then can you explain those on earth who are alone? Not everyone has someone and not everyone has a family. Sorry, but your answer is rude and ignorant. You are simply thinking from your own position (as the religious often do) and not of that of whom you speak (which is everyone).

I firmly believe you are correct. The concept of "hell" as a place of "fire and brimstone" cannot possibly be the correct image. Not only however for the fact that when we die only our spirit remains and a spiritual being could not be tortured in that way, but also because this would be so beneath God as to be completely unbelievable. Had we captured Hitler not even the Jews would have suggested that he be suspended in a cage over a fire. That sort of punishment would have been considered inhumane and make us a big a monster as he was. So if that sort of punishment would be rejected by man, how much more so would it be rejected by God. God is well beyond petty revenge tactics. Those who preach that are not.

i am happy to help you understand this.

the bible clearly states that the dead are conscious of nothing at all.

    so already this raises questions.

how can we be tortured in hell if we are conscious of nothing?

the simple bible truth is that there is no hell. the concept of hell comes from the word Sheol and hades, both mean the common grave. later the Greeks used the term Gehenna, this was an actual place where a fire was kept burning and all the rubbish was burned. so in the bible when it walks about being pitched into Gehenna it actually means eternal destruction. it does not mean torture.

many religious people just don't understand this.

Christ's perfect love magically makes you able to feel pain. Ha! Just kidding. The bible even says "the wages of sin is death" not "the wages of sin is an eternal life that's really going to suck" (and that's just one bit of obvious evidence for the lack of hellfire) so the "hellfire" type Christers are engaging in an especially abhorrent form of wishful thinking.

You have a soul, and at the white throne of judgment you will get a brand new body that will live forever in eternal damnation.Isaiah 55:6 :"Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near:

7 Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon

I would say the probability of an eternal torturous hell is about 0.

When a person dies they are grant a body of sin, the fire is natural fire and spiritual fire, hell a place of fire, loneliness, pain, sorrow, hatred, malice and is gloomy darkness and fear takes hold of ur soul and their is a foul odour of rotten flesh, god is there but is presence u won't feel, the pain is without rest, the pain is unbearable at one sin how much unbearable it is with the sins comitted in a life time, i've heard the screams of hell but not seen. It is place of a worm, moth and some things in horror movies eg pitch-black is one of them, until we understand sin we won't understand hell and god holyness. God hates violence, wut jesus said he means, god can't look no wickedness.

The burning described is a spiritual longing or regret for not heeding the word of GOD.

  • I don't believe in heaven and hell, but my question is... how do you know your soul simply cannot feel pain?

Your soul will feel the anxiety of being without God. Much like I feel right now. It's not that bad...
