A magical stalk appearing in late summer from the ground, bursting into a powerfully fragrant bouquet of beautiful bright pink flowers. At least that's what mine do. I also have some miniature lycoris that seem to bloom only every few years, and they are vivid red and only about 6 inches tall. My other Lycoris generally grow about 2 ft tall, I have a couple of beds of them that really surprise new neighbors when they suddenly appear.
