I'm not sure because this is so rare these days I do know that with Parvovirus you need to wait for a long time before bringing an unprotected puppy in. I think you should ask your vet.

    From caninedistemper.org........

    "Prevention of Canine Distemper

Canine distemper is rampant in unvaccinated dog population. Many industrialized countries having implemented great vaccination programs against the disease have successfully controlled the virus from spreading. Vaccination of young dogs begins as early as 6 weeks of age. Booster shots are administered yearly to ensure and maintain the antibodies against the virus. Basic proper hygiene and sanitation such as the use of standard disinfectants is sufficient to kill the canine distemper virus. Infected animals should also be quarantined from other animals."

But still check with your vet re what cleaning should be done, and what product used.

I imagine you'd be safe to bring a puppy who has had all his vaccination shots + a week or two, in. However, I would just say that although this article suggests puppies can be vaccinated at 6 weeks, the norm is 8 weeks, because as long as puppies receive the colostrum from mum, who has been boostered before being mated, most puppies are naturally immune until around 5 weeks, after which time the immunity gradually drops. If vaccinated too soon however, the external vaccination won't take.

when you can afford all the care, including vaccines. Vaccines are so cheap, there is no need for a dog to die from distemper. Seriously.

I agree with the above, don't get another dog until you are responsible enough to take them to the vet to get the needed things done. This includes any other issues that may pop up in the future. From it getting attacked to getting ill.

I'd suggest when you've got enough money saved for the vaccinations for the next puppy you get.

You need to become financially stable before you get another puppy. You know, vet bills for vaccinating and desexing your dog ....

Isolate it from all other animals and areas where other animals are allowed to go, especially ferrets.

If you get another dog, get its damn vaccinations. That could have been prevented, you know.
