Trailer hooks on Spinnerbaits?

On a spinnerbait of course. I ordered a few spinnerbaits with trailer hooks, never used them before. What's your take on them?

I never go without a trailer on a buzzbait or a spinnerbait unless Im just thowing in the gnarly stuff. A good tip is go to hobby lobby or craft store and find some plastic or rubber earring backs. Use them to secure the trailer hook, cheaper and better than dealing with bands. I bet 20% of my bass are caught on just the trailer so that is big when I tournament fish

    yes.

you can always trim your skirts a bit and use spinnerbaits with a shorter arm but then you wind up with a smaller bait with a smaller profile.

use the trailer hook. make sure it is a real trailer hook. not just a hook you are going to stick on there. and make sure the point is riding up. it will be just as weedless as your spinnerbait without it.

use a small bit of plastic worm or the "O" rings, sleeves or whatever that comes with the trailer hooks to keep them in place.

Trailer hooks are for those "short striking" fish that only mouth the spinnerbait instead of engulfing the entire thing. They work pretty well.
