There are fish around at any time of the year but some species are seasonal.

In late spring the mackerel and herring come in and by early autumn they start getting further from land.

There are pollack and coalies, codling, whiting, various flatfish, ballan wrasse everywhere that are only good for fishcakes because they are full of bones, and if you have some deep water go for a few big conger eels.

At the bottom of the Q in the link is another link to a long answer for UK sea fishing, with safety first, and in NI that really matters.

The Irish Sea gets pretty rough. Our bit of it on the IOM has bits of Ireland in it when it hits our shores.

It also has trees and pine cones from Scotland and thousands of small yellow shells carried all the way from the Med on the west European current and then the gulf stream. Ireland gets them too.
