is there always a visible bump with eye styes?

I believe I have an eye stye because:

My upper lid is swollen and tender...

I don't really have much redness and no secretions

But I dont see any kind of bump anywhere, could it be that it is just internally there?

please help. is there always a visible bump with eye styes?

Some styes are under the eylid and some styes are so small that a lump or bump may not be visible.

To be 100% sure, you should visit your doctor.

Most styes will heal fairly quick so leave it for a week or so and if it hasn't disappeared, consult your doctor for further advice.

Not always. Sometimes they can be under your upper eyelid. I've gotten them there before.
