When filling out forms for my child, do I check "Caucasian?"?
I am 1/2 African American and 1/2 Caucasian. My son's dad is white, therefore making my child only 1/4 African American. What would he officially be considered?

I would fill out the forms by how the child looks. My cousin is half african american and half caucasian. When he was born he was white, so they put caucasian on his birth certificate, but now he is very dark, and it has caused problems when filling out forms and people do not believe that the birth certificate is really his. You could also just fill in as other instead of denying who he really is.

its a little different from state im half white half hispanic and my ex is all white so my son is more white then anything and when i tried to put that on some paperwork they told me no because whatever the mother is listed as race wise is what the child is. i thought it was odd cause all you have to do is look at my son and you can tell hes white but according to the state of texas hes hispanic even if its only 1/4

I would not check just Caucasion because the child is in the other category or two or more races category. I have the same situation and I have taught my children to always put other or multiracial.

I would say check off Caucasion-- because I'm guessing his looks lean more to that side. I'd just go by how he looks... His complexion is probably fair right?
If so just check off Caucasion.
