Can abilify 5mg cause strange thoughts and restlessness?

I am on 5mg abilify for bipolar and I was having restlessness for a while that caused me to be unable to sleep. Recently, that got better.

Since I've been on it, though, I've been having really weird thoughts. They're really intrusive and won't go away and it's things I've never thought about before.

For example, I've had to sleep with the lights on for the past few weeks because I keep thinking about monsters and stalkers and ghosts and it's made me too afraid to be in a dark room alone.

This was never an issue before.

It could be. Abilify is weird. It made me hyper.. If you haven't started any new medications, or had any major changes in your life (or of course, watched a scary movie), I would probably assume it's from the medication.

hmm thats weird because that was one of my symptoms (intrusive thoughts) and i was prescribed abilify. The abilify made me really sleepy... Might have to do with anxiety. Maybe you were watching a ghost movie and it was on your mind for a while? It happens to the best of us

But i normally have a lot of thoughts before i sleep and my doctor diagnosed me with bipolar.. i was put on 2mg and then 5mg. im sure thats a small dose and it should act as a mood stabilizer . not too extreme. Im sure its fine, it takes a few weeks for you to have noticeable effects. good luck!

From what I know about abilify it is an "activating" antipsychotic medication. This means it does not have the side effects of amotivation and disinterest in pleasurable activities like on other antipsychotics like older medications such as zuclopenthixol and chlorpromazine. It is an interesting choice of medication for Bipolar. Nonetheless if you are having strange side effects it is best to talk to your prescriber.

Abilify can cause restlessness. That happened to me when I took it. It's called akathisia and can be treated with counteracting medications such as Cogentin, Artane, or Inderal.

Or you could switch to something else should the side effects be bothersome.

    Best of luck,

The abilify does not provide you unusual recommendations. it incredibly is think that may assist you in that branch. I in simple terms think of you will possibly be anxious approximately what the abilify might do, in spite of the undeniable fact that it incredibly is nice things. The area impacts for abilify are extra like not being waiting to sleep nicely. you may choose a distinctive dose. in simple terms communicate on your healthcare professional approximately what you experience, then he/she will understand what to do.
