I saved an attachment without using Save As in Windows 7 and now I can't find the file. Where is it?

I was working on a document that was originally an email attachment. When I was through editing it, I hit "Save" instead of "Save As" and now I can't find the file. I know how to retrieve it in Windows XP, but can't seem to find it in Windows 7. Any suggestions? Or will I have to do the work all over again? Thanks!!

well by default it would be saved into "My Documents" , go and search there. and if can't find it there then go to "My computer " there in the top right corner u will see the search bar , type the name of the file and it will search for u into the whole computer .

btw if u do not know the name of the file then do one thing , u can remember what was the first line of the document , like the heading , coz normally the first line is what it uses for the file name .

    or here are more options

since u just did the work , go to the search bar in the my computer and there just click it , it will give u some options , there is one called "Date Modified" , click it and it will ask u the date , enter the date when u saved that attachment and it will show u all the files which were made or modified on that specific date ^^

Open a new document. and hit save again it will ask for location to save file, where present location it is showing is its default location where it stores the document.

Chk that location u may find ur file there....

If you have clicked open instead of save while downloading, then file will be in temporary folder.

To open temp folder type %temp% in run box. If not found type only temp in run dialog box.

To open run press Start or Win + R keys.

    Hope You Recover.

maximum probably, no. as quickly as you closed the e-mail, the reproduction of the attachment which you opened grow to be probably deleted. you will possibly get the version that grow to be related to the e-mail by way of beginning the e-mail, yet any ameliorations you made are misplaced.
