i have a few questions about salvia?

today i'm going to go pick some salvia leaves because someone i know has a plant. i plan on drying the leaves in the oven or microwave.

this will be my first time smoking salvia. the only things i've done are weed and a few perscription meds, so i'm not exactly experienced but i've done a lot of reading up on trips and such.

how much will i need to smoke to get to each trip level? i'm planning on doing it while my parents are asleep so is the smell strong like weed is? and will i make any noise while i'm tripping? it's really hard to hear anything from my parents room but i just want to make sure i don't wake anyone up haha.

hope i get some answers, thanks!!

Well you're using plain leaves, and since it's only the amount found in one plant, i wouldn't expect much, if anything at all. All the trip reports you read were probably from the use of salvia extract leaves of at least 5x. And the smell is not nearly as strong or recognizable as weed, so you'll be safe with that too.

First, DON'T PUT SALVIA LEAVES IN THE MICROWAVE!!! the microwave will vaporize the Salvinorin A and you will not have leaves nearly potent enough to ever produce effects, Salvia leaves should be dried in a cool, dark place to avoid losing potency. I generally put them between the pages of an old, large book unfolded, and they dry within a week.

    Generally for smoking the leaves:

level 1 is attained from 1-2 leaves,

level 2 is attained from 2-3 leaves,

level 3 is attained from 3-5 leaves,

level 4 is attained from 6-8 leaves,

level 5 is attained from 9-12 leaves, and

level 6 is attained from 13+ leaves

This is why people prefer to smoke the extract, as smoking more than 4 leaves in the time before it kicks in is very difficult, and requires a large pipe bowl. 2-3 leaves fill a pipe, which is really not enough to trip.

Yes, salvia creates a very apparent smell when burned, if privacy is a factor, you may wish to smoke them outside away from the house.

You will probably experience mild visual disruptions, maybe some closed eye visuals, and a slight sense of euphoria, considering you smoke about 1 bowl of leaves.

You will probably not trip, therefore you will not make unwanted sounds, however you may feel the urge to laugh, which may be audible.

Might I make a suggestion, instead of drying and smoking the leaves, chew up 6-12 of them undried, holding them in your mouth for 20 minutes, and you will trip a bit more, due to the ability to use a higher dose, for longer too, it will be more pleasant, you won't have to worry about smell, and you don't have to dry them. That's how the Aztec's used it.

Many people aren't really affected by smoking the leaves directly, so it's hard to say what will happen. The extracts are much more potent, and even then some people aren't affected. With a higher extract, 1-2 hits seems to be enough to reach complete dissociation. It will likely take a lot more with dried leaves, to reach lower stages.

But in case it does work..

It doesn't smell anything like weed, but it does have an unusual smell which is a little acrid. And the effects are nothing like weed. I really don't recommend smoking alone, you need a sitter in case it does work properly. It can hit so quickly that it could be dangerous if you drop anything that's still hot/burning. And because it can cause complete detachment from reality, you can injure yourself walking around when you don't even know you're doing it. Most people make some noise (I've seen everything from giggling to shouting). If you're going to do it alone anyway (again, you shouldn't!), I recommend staying in bed and covering up as soon as you start to feel effects.. it will discourage you from getting up and walking around.

There are almost 1000 different species of Salvia but only one has the properties you are looking for. Don't be stupid, the products of combustion really shouldn't be in your lungs.
