AMERICAN TEENS;views on british teenagers?

They like tea?

I don't even think about British people.

I see questions like this all the time. Why are British people so curious about what Americans think of them? I never see questions like, 'British teens, what are your views on American teens?' It's kind of weird.

Um,I'm British, but I answer based on my opinions.

Looks- well, it's quite rainy in the UK so most of us are quite pale, blonde hair and blue eyes is quite common, so is light brown hair. The majority if people are white. We have quite a high obesity rate, about 33% I believe, but whereas American's seem to be either skinny or fat we have more 'in the middle' sizes.

Personality- I'd say similar to American teens. Many think they know it all, gang culture is big in the cities. Violence and teen pregnancies are quite common. Many are loud but many are quite. We have a large range of people. So it's hard to say. But where I live I think many teens find it annoying that American's seem to think we're all quite well off or stuck up. Because we're really not. Over 3 million children in the UK live below the poverty line. And receive little help.

Fashion- Well, we're jeans kind of people really. Many people wear tracksuits- mostly because they're cheap and it's become fashionable. Baggy jeans, pants showing above the jeans. Wonky caps (Google 'chav).

I'll add a few of my own.

Education- Our education is quite good, however as we don't hold people back grades some people are dragged through school completely unable to read or write and it's never 'fixed' the special needs education is poor, most of the education for special needs kids is taken from American research as private companies fund it in the US. I personally am very grateful for the American work on SPD, seeing as a SENCO from America was called in to my school to give talks to my teachers about my problems.

Way of life- The benefit culture is very big in the UK, and our government is trying to crack down on it, many people are living very happily off benefits they don't deserve while struggling families don't get what they need. Young mums, druggies and alcoholics are given houses in the UK to help them get better.

Bad bits- I guess it's similar to America but there is very little for teens to do and many teens who aren't breaking the law end up with cautions for being in places at night time. I know this as I was by myself at a park at 1 in the morning and I was picked up by a police officer and warned. He kindly didn't give me a caution.

Teenage pregnancies and obesity levels are big issues in the UK. So is binge drinking, under-age drinking, smoking and drug abuse. Many people who are born in the rough areas never get out. Our system is very classist- the posh kids get the uni places even when kids from the estates have better grades than they do.

Sooo.. I think they're ok. They look ok, but most of them are too pale and just blonde. and I despise their accents!! ugghh I also think they try to copy Americans in everything they do.

They should cut down on their teenage pregnancies.
