You can get a credit card when you are 18. You can get a card on your parents credit account younger than 16 but your parents have to request it from their card company and their rules vary. Debit cards come with checking accounts. Credit cards are borrowing money, debit cards take the money available from your bank.

Lets get a debit card first. You get one when you open a checking account
You can't get a credit card unless you have a checking account.
A checking account will come with a debit card you can use for all your purchases.
You must be 18 to open this on your own, if not ask a parent

It depends on the bank. Chase doesn't allow until 18, but wells fargo does if you're a teen and your parent approves.
