Join a LOT of clubs, and sports. (Be active!)

(Trust me kiddo, High school gets boring when it's just books & paperworks.)

Clubs/Sports can ease from schoolwork and have fun.

Anyone can do a sport, there's a sport for every body type.

Don't just sit around and do schoolwork like most would in middle school.

It's not all just based on test scores and GPAs.

Fact: Universities will choose over a student who is very active with sports and clubs but did not have good SATs/ACTs and GPAs (Not below 3.0) over someone who doesn't do clubs or sports but have a 4.0+ GPA and a perfect SAT/ACT score.

I can say that clubs and the like will gain you little scholarship opportunities unless it is involved with Leadership Seminars, you are a God at sports, or that you are in National Honors Society.

A big chunk of the material for scholarships lies mainly on GPA, ACT/SAT scores, and your ability to crank out amazing essays. Maintaining above the top 25 percent of your class and you're looking at serious potential.

I'm a senior, and I've attended a few extracirricular activities, and none have had anything to do with sports. It got dull at times, but I pulled through and got a 3.8 GPA. Alongside a 28 ACT, I could get half-tuition at my prospective university. Were I to choose an in-state college, it would likely be full ride.

It DOES matter how well you do in high school. I can guarantee that if you can maintain above a 3.5 GPA and get above a 27 on your ACT, you can get some big bucks.
