What is the deal with humans ?

It's not a question of evolution in the scientific sense of the word.

It has more to do with the way societies are developing.

There has always been greed, senseless killing and divisiveness. It just seems today that so many societies the world over, are becoming more and more intolerant of each other, and resorting to armed conflict to settle their differences.. It' s a case of guns speak louder than words.

We have global overcrowding because of a soaring world population, especially in the poorer countries that can least afford large populations,tribal and religion based conflict, the slow breakdown of cultural restraints, the financial crisis occurring in the developed countries and a growing materialism. Add to this mixture regular natural catastrophes caused by our abuse of the planet's ecosystems and we have a world approaching crisis point.

Until we can learn to live in harmony, attempt to understand and tolerate each other, and work together for the common good, I cannot see the situation improving anytime soon.

I personally fear that it will take a global war to bring people to their senses. The paradox being, that we probably wouldn't survive it.

I know you want me to buy into your depressing schpeel about humanity being terrible and all, but that's just not the case.

First of all, you say their is senseless killing, I'll assume you are talking about murder and war. With murder you have to realize that murderers are not mentally well. But that doesn't mean they should represent the whole human population much like weather does not represent a climate. And with war, you need to understand that from the beginning of humanity (whenever you believe that was) people have known that in order to survive they need to get rid of their enemies and also expand to new lands with new opportunities (this is true for 99% of animals on the earth). Basically, humans have always initiated war.. but today's wars, for the most part, are a lot more civilized. Greed is also a human instinct, basically our mentality is that if we don't have it then it does us no good (which is true). Rudeness is just an opinion, its a personality trait, not a flaw. Many of the people the media exposes us to are considered rude but that's just because its more interesting to watch ill behaved people.

The earth is so populated now that governments can't control the people they govern, and it will persevere until something is done about it. ie population control, and I do not mean murdering the elderly.

When you try to train billions of animals to be civilized prepare to watch that system fall apart. We are animals striving to be something we never were.
