Yes. Put your name as the payee, fill out the amount and sign it. Then sign the back just as you would any other check you were cashing. You will still need ID.

Best bet: deposit it in your own bank account. Or use it to open a bank account since you absolutely have to have one (unless you are in ChexSystems and barred from opening a bank account). If BofA will cash it for you, you will need two forms of govt-issued photo ID: passport, drivers licence, official school ID, military ID, etc. If the check is for over $3000, chances are you cannot cash it without special reporting to FinCEN (Financial Crimes Enforcement) - the govt makes it very difficult to do business in cash these days. And it is possible that no bank will "cash" it at all - deposit to your account only.

Yes, go to the bank and present your check to the teller. He will cash it for you. Just make sure you write your NAME on the "pay to the order of" line. Do NOT write "cash". If you write cash and lose the check, then anyone finding it can cash it. Do NOT endorse the back of the check until you are standing in front of the bank teller.

Yes, as long as you have the funds to cover the check. If not, they will either reject cashing it for you, or you may bounce a check to yourself.
