All piercings hurt so you need to stop worrying about that, it's the least of your worries. If you can sit through a tattoo you can sit through a piercing. It's quick and then it's done. It's up to YOU if it's worth it. I do have to warn you though, surface piercings have a really high rejection rate and are really difficult to take care of, especially on your hips since it's a high movement area. If you get them, get them higher than where you pants hit and clean them with SALINE AND ONLY SALINE twice a day. Make sure the piercer uses surface bars, or curved as a last resort, but NOT straight barbells. Really, hip piercings are very different from belly button and tongue. There's nothing to hang on to and they will reject eventually - it's just a matter of your skin type and how well you take care of them that determines how long they'll last. So think hard about whether you really want to live with those scars. They are super cute but make sure you read up on them a bit so you know what you're getting into.
