A 6990 uses the same GPU chip as the 6970, except that it's downclocked to 830mhz. There is a switch on the 6990 that will clock it up to 880mhz but that voids the warranty.

The 6970 is clocked at 880mhz.

Two of the 5770 in Crossfire don't even come close to a single 6970.

    A 6990 is much faster.

Crossfiring a pair of 5770's is about equivalent to a single 5870 or 6950. And those cards are well below a 6990.

Well I had a HD 5770, then i got a HD 6950 1gb and I was told it was twice the power. ill only ever consider getting crossfire if I have the best gfx cards out there.
