How do I cope with a relationship with a person suffering from depression?

I love my boyfriend. God knows how much I love him. And I know he loves me... but he recently told me he used to suffer from depression. The reason he brought it up is because it seems to be back. The few weeks before he told me, I noticed he just never seemed quite as happy... every little thing bothered him and none of what he loves can make him happy. So I questioned it to him, and he told me his story.

I want to be there for him. God knows I love him.. but it's to the point that I'm hurting all the time when I am with him. He doesn't show the love like he did. When I am with him he is mopeing around.. but when I leave, he calls or texts apologizing for being so ungrateful to me... for taking me for granted.

I don't want to be the bad girlfriend who leaves him in his time of need. But where do you draw the line between someone elses pain and your own? I cry myself to sleep too many times a week over him.

Honestly, u need to let him know hes not alone out there. there are millions of people that are in the same situation and what doesnt kill you can only make you stronger. i find that when im deppressed i try to focus on my body mind and soul and how i can cleanse it. a great way to fill that emptiness inside is to fill it up with god. another good way is to find ppl out there in worst situations and put yourself in there shoes. for example...ppl in 3rd world nations, ppl at war away from families and so on. the only thing you can do is be there and let them know they can lean on you. listen to music like blues. bill withers, sam cooke,, ppl like that. hope that helps. keep ya head up

tell him to go to his doctor. He most likely needs medication and/or counselling. Depression is something that needs to be monitored.
