The true Statue of Liberty play is when the quarterback fakes a throw after backing up to pass, then hands off the ball to the runningback very discreetly. The back then takes off and scores (hopefully). The last time this play was correctly run was in the Fiesta Bowl with Oklahoma and Boise State. It was the 2nd overtime and as required, the Broncos were forced to go for 2. Jared Zabransky took the snap, faked a pass right and held the ball behind his back with the left hand as Ian Johnson took the pigskin and rumbled into the endzone, winning it for Boise State. The Oregon game was actually a FAKE Statue of Liberty where Dennis Dixon kept the ball and ran in for a touchdown.

2007 Fiesta Bowl - between the Boise State Broncos and Oklahoma Sooners. The Broncos used it.
2007 - Michigan Wolverines vs. Oregon Ducks. The Ducks used it.
2007 - The New England Patriots employed an unusual variant of the play in their 2007 NFL divisional playoff game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Strictly speaking, the play, which the Patriots called "Double Pop," was actually a reverse Statue of Liberty play, in that the run, not the pass, was the fake element.
