Whats better for a 2010 Dodge Challenger SE a supercharger or a turbo charger?

Whats the difference?

Update:

Does one or both have parasitic drag? I mean dosn't one eat up extra gas?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turbocharger - uses engine exhaust to operate. Basically stated, it's free power.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Supercharger - uses engine crankshaft to work. Normally, there is a belt that runs from the crankshaft to the supercharger. This, unlike the turbo, is not free power.

With your car, it depends on how you want to set it up. I'm pretty sure there is both available for your vehicle.

Depends if you want to win or if you just want to sound like you have power..

Take it from somebody who knows (I have driven or ridden in at least 3000 races).. you will never be able to compete with anything with a turbo.. A turbo miata will waste a supercharged miata.. a turbo GT mustang will waste a supercharged mustang..

Yes the supercharger will sound cooler.. but the amount of power they put out, and the amount of heatsoak you get.. and the supercharger costing double the amount of a turbo system.. the turbo will more than double your performance

Go with a turbo my friend, you wont be disappointed... at all..!

You only have 1 option to begin with. Supercharger by ModernMuscle...google them. They are the only company that makes a supercharger for a v6 Challenger. The supercharger runs at 10psi safely and gets you to about 310-320RWHP. But it still lacks torque =T

the supercharger since its always on will have the parasitic drag, and therefore will eat up more fuel since essentially it will act like another accessory, like an alternator,or a/c pump until it reaches the rpm that it starts to make power.the turbo will just be along for the ride, but will make power at its rpm spool up point.until then there will be no drag on the engine.that's why so many imports will turbocharge instead of supercharge because the small engines cant take the extra drag at low rpm.its also why diesels will turbocharge instead of supercharge.granted they can take the extra drag, but if you have the option not to,then why would you.also btw thank you for your service.im ex army myself

Like C-Tech said, Motortrend did a comparison showing that the Camaro is faster than the Challenger, however, I personally think that the Challenger looks a lot better. Overall, I would get the Challenger because it looks a lot better and only goes the slightest bit slower.

Turbo is easiest & cheapest. It will make plenty of power for you.

The Turbo is driven by the exhaust gas & only when you step down hard.

The Blower is driven by belt so it takes power all the time.

    Both are GREAT!
