♥ 2-3 pairs of jeans. (skinny or the style you prefer) Try places like Kohl's or JC Penney. American Eagle is also having a sale on jeans going on.

    Estimated cost: Around $60

♥6-8 shirts to start out with. You can always buy more throughout the year.

Estimated cost: $30-40 (depending on where you like to shop. Try places like Forever 21, Wet Seal, etc.)

♥2 pairs of shoes (one pair of flats, one pair of tennis shoes.)

    Estimated cost: $40

♥Etc: tank tops for layering or a few statement pieces of jewelry

    Estimated cost: $10

♥School supplies: Your teachers will tell you what you need specifically for their class on the first day of school. For now, you can buy basic items. These include:

filler paper (college ruled), pencils, pens, notebooks (college ruled), folders, notecards, tabs/dividers, and a binder or two.

    Estimated cost:$20

    Total cost: $170

I will also be a freshman but you have to buy your own school stuff? But you should only need a few jeans and get them from cheap places like TJ Maxx, Forever 21 (which is a great store for low priced cute stuff) and JC Penney, dont watste your money on $50 Hollister jeans because honestly nobody cares if your wearing hollister. As for shirts and shoes you probably have stuff left from last year but a couple new shirts and a pair of shes or two should be fine. As for supplies you will probably get a list but if you dont you will most likely need:

    1. Pencils

    2.A pen

    3.Those book cover things

    4. Get a couple 1" binders and some portfolio folders

    5. A calculator (unless you have Algebra and need a $100 graphing calculator DON"T buy one of those its a waste of money you will never use it again in your life and the school should supply it!)

    6. Maybe Index Cards

    Source(s): I'll be a freshman too

I would buy 3 or so pairs of pants. You can get really good quality jeans at Ross or Marshall's for like $12. I would get like, 7 shirts. The stuff they have on sale at Forever 21 is really cheap & cute. I would get one pair of shoes that you would wear a lot and gym shoes if you play sports. I would also get a new hoodie.

As for school supplies, binders, notebooks, writing utensils, and a calculator.

I don't think you need a set number of everything, just buy what you like. It's good to have a minimum amount of certain things, but chances are you'll find clothes you like throughout the school year too, so you don't need to go out and spend all your money now.

Anyway, I would want at least 3-4 pairs of jeans. Basically, enough that you're not wearing them every other day, but you don't need much more than that. If you want to get other types of pants and you're going to wear those to school too, you may not need as many pairs of jeans.

For shirts, my personal preference is to have enough that I don't wear them for at least two weeks. I mean, I have more tops than that, but there are some that I don't wear as much. If I wear a shirt on say, Tuesday, I usually don't like to wear it until like Thursday two weeks later (so basically, two weeks and two days later). Then again, I often do end up wearing shirts more often than that, because I really like them or I just don't feel like finding something else. How many shirts do you already have? I would say maybe 12 or so to wear on a more regular basis is good, especially because you might acquire more clothes over time, like a school sweatshirt.

With shoes, it depends on how often you mind wearing the same pair. I know some people who are perfectly happy to wear the same pair of shoes everyday all year long, while other people have shoes for nearly ever outfit. I would say look at some types of shoes you want (sneakers, boots, sandals, etc.) and then start with one of each (as long as they're not too expensive... if you don't have enough money, maybe hold back on something for now, e.g. boots, since chances are you wouldn't even be wearing them for a while). Like I said, it depends on how often you're willing to wear things, but I would say maybe 4 or 5 pairs you wear on a regular basis would be good. I have like 9 pairs, but I only wear like 4 of them relatively often.

Chances are your teachers will tell you what you need on the first day. If you want you can get basics now, like notebooks and folders, but they might even have specific rules about those.

    I'm getting about that much.

All of that depends on if you already have pants and shirt and shoes that fit you that you like.

I think you should have 5 pairs of pants total so if you have two that fit you get three more.

And school supplies, if you have left overs from last year use those at first and wait until school to ask what you need.

Look in your closet see what you don't have, you don't have to start completely fresh each year use some stuff from last year. Usually I like to have about 6 pairs of jeans/capri's, 2 or 3 skirts, 15-20 shirts (long & short sleeves), 2 or 3 shorts, Earrings :).

    School supplies:

Pencils, Pens, Binders, Erasers, Tab dividers, Glue sticks?, Colored Pencils?, Backpack, Ruler, Calculator?

You should definately wait til school starts to buy the school supplies, you don't want to buy something that you won't need.

For now, you can buy the basic 5 pair of jeans (one per school day) (Wet Seal, American Eagle, etc. have great jeans and sales around this time)

Shirts should always vary. You can buy as many as you want - Aeropostale has nice shirts and so does Forever 21.

Shoes can also vary - flats, sneakers, boots?

    Good luck :D

Well usually first day they tell you what you will need. The first day they tell us just to bring a pencil and paper. But that's my school. I would buy some folders and maybe a binder or two if you have A and B days.

Sorry don't really know about clothes, I am kinda in the same situation.

Good luck! Hope this helps! :)

I can't help you because in the UK we wear uniforms for school and you used the word 'freshman' that means your American. I thought americans don't wear uniforms to school?

However, my school uniform consists of:

    - 2 pairs of black trousers

    - 3 blue shirts

    - 2 black jumpers

    - 2 yellow and dark blue school ties

    - 1 pair of black school shoes

    - PE Kit (shirt, jumper, socks and trainers)

For equipment, just the basics I guess. You'll probably lose everything within a week (I know I do, haha)

    - Pens, Pencils, Rubber, Ruler, Calculator, Compass, Sharpener and coloured pencils.
