what do i do with my brand new female parakeet?

i just bought a 4-5 month old female parakeet, she lets me pet her and doesn't back away, i petted her for a couple minutes and she even climbed on my hand. i let her back down and left the room because i get to do something and then when i tried to play with her again she bit me. also she's not moving or eating. should i just let her chill because she's scared or try to play with her more, also should i introduce her to her water and food or just let her get to it when she's hungry?

For about a day or two, just let her relax. She might be pretty stressed because of the whole moving process. As for the water, she should find it by herself, unless it is in a bottle. Parakeets are often too small to drink from the bottles. Make sure her food has millet in it. (little bitty brown balls with shells)

Also make sure you have her in a quiet place, and cover her cage at night. If she continues to not eat, buy some millet spray from anywhere really. Parakeets love millet spray, and will not deny it!!!! :D Not to mention, you can buy it at almost any pet store, and most Wal-marts.

After a day or two of being at your house, try and play with her, she may bite, but just hold her,(not too tight!!!) with your hand wrapped around her wings, for about 5 minutes, she will probably be tame by then. She may bite when you do this, but do not let her go.

Also, once she is more tame and knows you better, you can train her to jump onto your finger by pressing it on her belly near her legs. (dont poke her!)

    Good luck, hope I helped!

Same thing with me a few days ago. I just got her to trust me by petting her an I shared my water with her. If she doesn't fly around a lot to the point you can't catch her then let her out of the cage. I put the food dish up to her and ahe steps on then I take it out with her on it to get her out of the cage. Just bond with her.
