Road bike NYC recommendation?

i'm trying to find a good bike shop in NYC to buy a new road bike. Any recommendation on a good shop here in the city??? Also any specific brand I should look for? My max spending is around $1000. I will be using the bike to ride to school about 7 miles each way. Also to ride with friends.

There is no one particular brand that is better or "best". The "best" bike for you - well...you have to take several out for extensive test rides & figure out which one just "feels" right & rides the best to you. Brands? Tons of 'em. Raleigh, Masi, Specialized, Cervelo, Trek, Giant, Cannondale, etc. The list goes on & on... All found at real bicycle shops. Tell the salesperson exactly what you need the bike to do for you. This time of year - start looking for close-out & over-stock sales as the 2012 models are coming out. A 2011 or 2010 model may be lower priced & just as good.

  • What do your friends ride? I am not suggesting that you get the same bike, but the same brand different bike may be a fit for you and with your riding buddies. I would think that is the closest fit to answering your question. I like Globe, Wabi, Specialized and Trek to name a few. Your budget is a great price point, giving you many options. I would figure you need a fast bike.

    Best.

What I observed works first-class for wintry weather commuting might be [Upper Body] Under Armour Cold equipment turtle Neck, Wool Sweater and A Thick Windbreaker [Lower Body] Under Armour Compression Pants, Long John Pants and Tight Sweat Pants. What used to be I used used to be slightly extra severe than what you might want because of wherein I reside [Northern Ontario] and I used the setup for my early season rowing whilst climate ranged from -20 to five Celsius and I used to be always rainy Wool is continuously well when you consider that it continues you hot even if rainy and does not permit you to get too hot and, prevent cotton when you consider that it sucks you frame warmness whilst rainy, simply recall cotton is rotten

Google bike shops and your zip and start there. There are probably bike shops all over the city.
