How do I push back an image in gimp?
Not sure how to work with layers properly. How do I put an image I've pasted on top of another image, behind that image instead of on top of it?
under "stack" all the options are greyed out

Select the layer you wish to move in the layers dialog by clicking on it. Now click the green up or down arrow.

Put the mouse courser over the layer you want to behind the other push and hold down the left mouse
button and drag the layer below the layer that you want to be in front (of course you you can drag
the layer that contains the image you want to move forward above the image you want in the rear)

Go to your layers window, you can set the relationships through that.
The layer on top will be.... well.. on top. While layer on bottom will be on bottom. Shift them in the order you desire.
