How often to wash makeup brushes?
How often should I wash my MAC makeup brushes? Do I clean them right after I use them or continue to use them for a week then wash them or something?
And by washing I mean using a cleanser and water. Will doing this like after every use cause the brush damage or shed?

If you're just using them on yourself, i'd say once a week is fine.
The only brush that I would suggest cleaning after each use is your foundation brush (if you use one). The liquid makeup really cakes them up and gets super gross. You don't need to use brush cleaner on it after each use, but rinse it off in some water to get rid of the makeup.
I use 99% alcohol or brush cleanser to clean my personal brushes once a week. However, being a makeup artist, I have separate brushes that I use on my clients, so they need to be cleansed after each use to avoid the spread of bacteria from person to person.

your suppose to wash them every time you use them........i guess i should start doing that... usually laziness takes over and i get busy and forget, but those brushes can get really gross if you actually thought about it, so yeah clean them every time you use them. Depends on the Quality of the brush, i have a few cheap ones that do that, you just have to wash in a gentle way, some people use baby shampoo to clean them with, wash it then take a towel and squeeze the water out and then let it air dry, if you dry the brush in a rough way then it will shed

I wash mine with shampoo, I use my shampoo, which is Aveda Smooth Infusion. It depends really on what makeup brush you are using. Like I wash my foundation brush every 2 days, because I use liquid foundation and it applies funny when too much gets on it! Answer mine?? http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=201108...

For brushes used for foundation and creams you should cleanse every second day or every day if possible, for the others such as eyeshadow and blush brushes you should cleanse those every week at the latest. :)
lucks.

For liquid or cream things, like foundation and concealer, you should wash those either every or every other day.
For powder things like blush and kabukis you should wash every week or so.

Washing them every time you use it is the most sanitary and safe thing to do. You don't want to build up dirt and bacteria on them.
