Try the Enchanted Forest Chronicles (Check your local library or amazon. They aren't sold at most bookstores I've been to), Edward Eager's books (I admit I haven't read these in a while and they are aimed at a slightly younger age group, but I do remember loving them to death. Start with Half Magic.), Agatha Christie (She was a wicked awesome author and while most of her stories fall more into a formulaic story, she makes it enjoyable with her clever writing and wonderful characters), Jane Austen (While her novels do fall more into romances, their plots are far superior to Twilight and the like and there is quite a bit of dry humor mixed in.), Shakespeare (If his work is to hard for you to enjoy reading, try finding versions that are written in modern English. No Fear Shakespeare has some on it's website), and finally, while this technically is romance, it's an excelant book, Flipped.

I liked Artemis Fowl, Percy Jackson, and Harry Potter DEFINITELY!
1.) Gregor the Overlander
I think there are 5 of these. Although I have never read Hunger Games I know it IS written by the same author. Susan Collins. Try this series!
2.) The PENDRAGON series.
There are 10 of these.
Summary: This is about a common 14 year old boy who is althetic.
So, as the kid goes to his basketball game, a girl who he likes comes over, makes out with him (this is NOT a romance its a fantasy) and then his uncle comes (this uncle is a GREAT uncle). He takes the kid and basically gets him sucked into a world where he might die any second. MILLIONS of people liked this series, i think you will too. Enjoy!

Escape From Furnace by Alexander Gordon Smith is an amazing book that I would recommend to someone, any day! There are currently three that have been published so far... the first one being Lockdown: Escape From Furnace 1. There is also a website where you can read more about the books. I hope that this helps you :] Here is the link to the website --> http://www.escapefromfurnace.com/#/home
