I am a piercer..... the tragus is a tuff piece of cartilage and may swell slightly but should not be causing you so much pain! you should have been advised to bathe it twice a day morning amd evening in boiled (then left to warm) water with a pinch of sea salt ? not any old salt it has to be sea salt as this will help fight any bacteria or infections.
I dont no when you had it done but if it has been like that for over a week... give it 2 days cleaning it with the sea salt , if it doesn't go down go back to the piercer . you may have to have it taken out as your body is rejecting it... i no this sucks but you dont want to be left with nasty scaring!
Dont put ice on it!
good luck

I believe I was told once that ice helps swelling. Get a bag of frozen peas or a wet cloth wrapped around ice and apply it to the swelling. I will get red but it should help. Don't mess with it too much. It should go down a bit by tomorrow.

I would go from a warm cloth to ice. The ice will really help the swelling. I would swap every 2-4 hours.

Heat will not reduce swelling. Ice will. And ibuprofen, an anti-inflammatory. Heat may feel good but it will not help.

Arnica is an excellent remedy to take care of your swelling.
You can find it at your local pharmacy, better supermarket pharmacies and even Amazon.
