Do you think the Panthers finally found the quarterback they're looking for.... Cam Newton?

I think Newton did outstanding job in preseason match up. But I wonder if he's going to be the man to play for a decade.

Carolinas not that good of a team so you can't expect newton to bring them to the superbowl.. He's a talented quarterback but with very little help around him.. Im guessing hell have a few rocky years but than hell bounce back.. Were probably looking at a daunte culpepper career which isnt that bad.

No, and actually, they continue to botch it. Newton looked so-so against the Giants, and worse tonight against the Dolphins. His accuracy is still a huge question mark. The reason why I say they botched it, is because of 2 reasons:

    1) Why draft Newton at all. Carolina drafted 2 quarterbacks in the 2010 draft, including 1 with their 1st pick, Jimmy Clausen. The team was bad enough that they should have tried to fill other needs, and will be bad this year, and have an opportunity to draft Andrew Luck next season, the player everyone thought they would take had he stayed in the draft.

    2) They continue with this farce, that its an open competition, when in fact anyone who has watched their 2 games thus far will tell you it has been anything but. Newton is being given every opportunity to win the job, but has arguably been their 3rd best quarterback thus far. Carolina is putting pressure on themselves to play Newton, who has played slightly below average at best, completing only 15 of 33 passes or 45%. It reminds me of the Cardinals quarterback competition last year, where the Cardinals went with Anderson because he could throw it further, and look how that turned out.

The Panthers are not on a steep curb to possible playoff contention, so they might as well give him the ball to start the season. I just don't understand why they didn't dump Claussen for any draft pick before this "controversy" ended early. It isn't as if JC will be tutoring Cam to become a better starter; he wasn't that good as a starter to be any kind of teacher.

Unless they are looking for a bust then I'd say Newton is not the man for the job.

He is like vince young or Mike Vick. Fast with a good arm. He could turn out to be very good like Mike Vick, or very bad like my boy Jamarcus Russell. He may be a project and he may not. It all depends. I love cam newton.
