how do you measure an opening to install a storm door?
i would like to install a storm door to my front door. i believe the hinged part will screw into the inside of the frame and to the outside part as well as it is kinda like a piano hinge, i believe it to be that way but i am not a carpenter and am unsure. the man at the home depot did not seem to understand what i was asking him.do i measure from the inside frame, one side to the other and bottom to top for the measurements or do i measure the side of the frame that is facing you as you approach the front door.
i do not want to have to cut it to fit. i want it to be the size i need it to be. do i measure it from the inside of the wood from side to side?

storm door same size as front door size,32 or 36 most common.the storm door frame can be adjusted/cut to fit the area.hinge goes on the same side front door is hinged.either left or right standing outside looking at it.
