Are tablets going to take over computers?

I know that the tablet has took a HUGE HUGE toll on the PC business... People are saying that this is now the POST-PC age and PC's are going to fade away. But I can't see this happening because huge companies like WalMart and the US Government can't use tablets to launch missiles and to keep all of there data on.. And people can't make Hollywood movies and design cars from tablets, either.

No they won't. For many of us in technical fields, a tablet can't replace a normal PC. Typing on a slate is awkward and slow compared to a traditional keyboard and mouse. And compared to a mouse or stylus, a finger is extremely imprecise. They work great for simple things like reading the news or playing a simple game, but authors, scientists, engineers, programmers, architects, IT workers, and secretaries at the very least need a keyboard and mouse. In my opinion, what's more likely to happen is that convertible tablets are going to take off. These are full computers where you can either detach the screen or flip the screen around and turn it into a tablet. While the keyboard is just an afterthought for the iPad, these convertible tablets are PCs first and tablets second.

No. But it certainly gave Netbooks a run for their money. It might hurt the Laptop market, but there is so many things you can't do on Tablets, such as playing CDs, or in my dad's case, Programming. The way I see it, Tablets are like an alternative to Laptops, but can not do as much.

If tablets could actually do anything, yeah. THey are portable and handy

But theyre so limited in what they do, theyre easily outclassed by any computer

Especially if youre working in fields like programming
