my mother tongue is telugu :)

i'm interested in tamil as well and i practiced to learn since 2 months using dictionaries and many other books but i can't..i made tamil friends online in YA and i learn small words like da,di,vanakam etc...hahaha

i suggest you to watch telugu movies with subtitles..

It's good idea to stay in AP for somedays to learn telugu easily...

Telugu is a sweet language but with hard grammer and vocabulary..so,it's better to go to telugu language classes ..you can also make friends who knows telugu and talk to them in telugu few words for fun...

By coming to the script, telugu is one of the hardest languages to write...i find tamil script easy to write and read than my own language....

You may find it difficult in the begining but you will learn it soon..it depends on the efforts made by you to learn the language..

There are many online sites and translates...you can go through them as well :)

i wish you all the best....dhanyavadhamulu....ardhamaindha balaji sir???

    Learn Telugu

  • Friend,

    My Mother tongue is TELUGU.

I suggest that first you make friends with some people whose mother tongue is Telugu and who speak Telugu regularly ( Normally in your place they may tend to speak in English or the Local language)

Next any way you have a Book , learn some basic conversation tips and remember.

See a lot of Old Telugu Movies ...try to follow them.See the same old movie more than twice or thrice.

This way You hear good Telugu with good accent.

Hear TELUGU NEWS in TV channels ...you get the currently used words and their pronunciation .Be hearing ,and you feel familiar after some time.

Speak in Telugu with your Telugu friends and ask them to correct you if you make mistakes and also ask to be excused if you speak any thing wrong.let them correct you.

If you do like this for at least three months surely you will be able to talk in Telugu fluently.

I think Telugu language is one of the dialects in Pune, India. If you want to learn Telugu language it is hard because it's not yet written in the dictionary.

There are a number of Telugu movies remade in Tamil . And vice versa. Many Telugu TV serials are made in Tamil (by dubbing ) and vice versa. Watch maximum number of such movies in both languages. Remember about 20 to 25 % of Telugu vocabulary is derived from Sanskrit .Begin with the names of famous leaders like Rajaji ,Ramaswamy,Jayalalita,Chidambaram , Nataraj , Subba Lakshmi , Thyagarajan , Ranjan and learn the meaning of those names . Learning Telugu is easy . Good luck and welcome.

learning to speak in telugu is very easy bala , like said by our comedian vivek on each every word put " loo" in the end , avalvuthan mudinchipochi !

instead of reading the book i advice you to watch telugu channels more, its ok you cant get meaning just catch the words and store into your mind and later see the meaning in dictionary or book you have , or keep the telugu friends always with you like me ! .

so lastly watch more and more telugu channels and read telugu news papers and to tell even more marry a telugu girl and listen her speech daily !

    How To Learn Telgu

it is a good intention that you wanted to learn the language of the neighboring state ., telugu

as per the biography of sri ganapathi muni , he was appointed to work as a teacher in a school in thiruvannamalai, but one of the prerequisites was that he should be able to speak tamil., therefore he had learnt tamil (to read write and speak) IN JUST 15 DAYS

having said that, i have also seen telugu persons staying in chennai for a long long period ( may be five years or even more) but not able to speak fluent tamil/ even if they speak they speak with a slang/different accent and the same is the case with tamilians staying in andhra pradesh

you may also take the help of the person(s) who can speak more languages (like sri nandi , who can speak both languages fluently)

if you want to learn any language , apart from watching movies or serials in TV , you have to cultivate the habit of talking daily , just watching movies and or serials will not help and since you stay in tamilnadu , it may not be possible for you to talk in telugu on daily basis, therefore it may take a lot of time for you to learn

edit: are you a movie buff & a fan of mahesh babu? do you want to learn just because of the hype created for his upcoming movie "dookudu"?
