2001 Camaro Z28 Widest Tires?

Hey, just wondering what has been the widest tires you guys have put on you 2001 Camaro Z28. OEM is 235/55R16. Wouldn't want the rear tires to rub on the fenders or the fronts to hit the numbers when turning.

Thanks!

You don't have alot of room to play with out modding stuff. 245/50, 245/55, 255/50, 255/55 is about it.

I have a third gen (1988) camaro and third and 4th gens are very close when it comes to the chassis/suspension. I run 15" wheels though.

I run 235/60-15 on front and they work great, could go alittle wider and still be good.

On rear I have went through 3 sizes over the years. Started with a 255/60-15 and they worked fine, no rubbing at all.

Then went up to a 275/60-15 and they rubbed on the inner, back part of wheel well. I took a 2 lb hammer to the wheel well to make them fit with out rubbing..

Then went up to a 295/55-15... Oh boy.. Rubbed everywhere. The wheel well lip had to be rolled, the tire hit in like 3 places in wheel well. Out came the baseball bat to roll the lip and a 2 lb hammer to clearance the inside of wheel well

Your rim size and overall height is your constriction. If the height is changed this messes with the ABS and traction control systems, not to mention the vehicle speed sensor. Your width is only limited by the rims and how much space is under the wheel well. Also A severe consideration is how far the turn radius is(how far you can turn the steering wheel before it hits something mechanical in the front end.). You may want to read up on wide tires. On wet surfaces, they can have limited control via hydroplaning. If you are going for a "look" you should just be aware of the consequences. If you wanted to "harden" the suspension. you could put tires that are as wide as the state allows for maximum width. your turn radius would be severely limited, but it might be a cool parade car.

Unless you change wheels, you're pretty limited on the tire width.

A common replacement, and is actually another standard size is 245/50/16. They're a much more common, less expensive alternative and a lot easier to find.
