Guinea pig or rabbit?

I'm 16, starting college in two weeks & I really want a pet! I have a dog & a hamster already, but the dogs a family dog.

So which is more loveable? Some people told me guinea pigs are really fast and hard to handle? Ive never had one so I don't know & I had a rabbit when I was about 7, so I cant really remember how it was.

I need one that I can spend a lot of time with :-D one I can handle at least 3 times a day & give loads of love to! My friend told me her guinea pig wasn't very sociable :/

So which one do you guys recommend?:-D

Oh and are guinea pigs fast and kinda nasty? I heard that too. But everyone's saying most rabbits do bite, cause it's just what they do? AND I got told rabbits need more time? Which is what I want :-D

Thanksssssss :-D

Bunnies make the best pets. They can be litter trained. Bunnies bite(OUCH!) or nip(ouch). Biting is if they are scared or angry. Nipping can be the way they say "Hey there. Wait just a minute." If you were playing with them a nip is just instinct. Some nip as a show of affection.

Bunnies need lots of human interaction. They want to be loved. You will need to have a lot of time to be with it or it will be lonely. If you are staying at home for college you will need to take the dog in account. Is it big or little, young or senior, is it an inside or outside dog, can you bunny proof your room and any others it might roam in. Some bunnies and cat or dog can get along as long as they are being watched.

Hamsters and bunnies get along as long as the hamster is in its ball when out roaming. They may 'play together'. You must watch closely though. Bunnies can get so excited that they nose the ball to hard.

If you do decide on a bunny, please see if there is a bunny rescue near you. You will give that bunny a loving home and open up space in the shelter to save another bunny.

If at all possible let your bunny choose you. They seem to have a 6th sense about it. I know it sounds weird. LOL

FYI: Bunnies will need a different type of litter in their litter box than the hamster does in it's habitat. Recycled newspaper litter is excellent.(like Yesterday's News)

It sounda such as you already made up your strategies. For the pig's sake i visit declare that that is a determination which you will sooner or later be apologetic approximately. could desire to you reside with your self in the experience that your rabbit binkied in excitement and broke your guinea pig's backbone? they are fragile creatures. regrettably in case you are attempting this the rabbit nonetheless needs to be neutered, a crammed animal and a real animals are lightyears faraway from making an reported determination. He is familiar with that the crammed animal isn't alive and dominance humping will ensue. A rabbit can actually turn a pigloo onto that is back and get to the guinea pig.Rabbits have diverse healthful micro organism than guinea pigs and could bypass in this micro organism by using poop which your guinea pig will eat, no question approximately that. nutrition must be omitted all day for the two rabbits and guinea pigs because of the fact they are foragers and ingesting once or twice or maybe thrice an afternoon in basic terms isn't sufficient, they eat from their nutrition bowl a minimum of as quickly as an hour on a daily basis, it could be merciless to limit nutrition. yet like I stated, you do no longer look open to the different evaluations and could decide on the guy who's of a similar opinion with you as your perfect answer considering that's what you want to pay attention. are you able to even discover the money for a vet invoice ought to your pig get ill or harm from this affiliation in case you won't be able to discover the money for an basic neuter? i does no longer possibility it, I certainly have been on numerous guinea pig boards and the individuals sound in basic terms such as you until eventually some thing poor and preventable takes place and that they comprehend that that is all their fault. i could no longer stay with the guilt.

Guinea pigs are very sweet and there are lots living in rescues waiting for a forever home. You do need to get a pair as they are sociable and need piggy company. Also a large C&C cage - should not cost more than a pet shop one but you will need to make it with a roof unless the dog is very trustworthy or you keep it in a different area entirely.

The thing to consider is that going to college you are getting into adult life and chances are the pets will get left for someone else to look after. A well cared-for pig can live well beyond 5 years.

A good solution might be to give a home to one of the senior pigs - three years and over - that rescues find harder to rehome - people want babies even though they aren't babies for long - but then of course you need to realise that you are going to get fond of it and you may not have it for long.

Rabbit. I have one, and she is so cute. She just needs a little room to run around in, some food and water, and she'll be fine. You can take rabbits out on walks, if you buy a cat collar and a normal leash. Rabbits do have to eat more, though...and not ALL rabbits bite that much, mostly just males. If you get a female and if you let her get used to you then she won't bite you. Just don't let her near the family pet, because if your dog is big, he may try to take a bite out of her, since dogs are related to wolves, and wolves eat rabbits, etc. A small dog won't try, 'cause he wouldn't be able to eat her...and stuff.

    Hope that helps ;)

definetly a rabbit! guinea pigs don't make good pets at all! They are extremely hard to tame and don't cuddle much with you. Rabbits are easily tamed, make great pets, and can even be litter trained! So if you ask me, I would strongly suggest a rabbit!

Source(s): I had two guinea pigs for a year until I recently gave them away because I could not tame them. So I went out and bought a rabbit and they are GREAT pets!

i had a guinea pig before, and i really didn't like it they not very big cuddlers. My friend has a bunny and it sorda smells bad, but it was really cute and cuddly and if you just use some febreeze once in a while the smell will go away.

and just ask the pet store about the biting,

Neither, if you want a social pet that you can give all your love to get a ferret. Ferret are fun energetic lovable animals. They eat ferret food and smell a bit but if you can get past that they are the best. Obviously do your research first to see if you can own one at your college. Then do your research to see if you want to have one, they aren't high maintenance but you do need to ferret proof a few things.
