i wanted to know how much horsepower a 68 mustang 302 has?
I have a 68 mustang with a 302 in it. it has an edelbrock intake and a 650 carb on it but the rest is stock and i wanted to know how much horsepower it has. i have done research and found with the original 500cfm carb it made 290 hp

The 302 came stock with either 210 2v or 230 4v, if you added 20 hp, you now have 250 hp, but maybe less with engine wear....and these were gross not net, so anythiing is really guess..
the 289 2v had 195 hp

bollocks, came out as 210 hp with 2v carb uprated to 230 with the 4v carb
but lets face it, unless the engine has been rebuilt and the head all nicely reconditioned you'll be lucky to have 2/3 of that now
only way to know for sure is to get it dyno'd

It was 190 gross hp back in 1968, so it be like 160 net hp in today's numbers. With leaky gaskets, wore rings and valves, and carbon build up over the years more toward 140 hp.
