Switching AT&T Primary Account Holder?

I found out that we get a 10% monthly discount from AT&T from work. However, it would require me to become the primary account holder, but I am only 17 (almost 18 in Feb.)

Would AT&T allow me to become the primary account holder?

Update:

More details: We already have the account and my father is the account holder. It would not be a new account, rather just a transfer.

No, you would have to be a legal adult in order to hold a contract. At the age of 17, you are not legally an adult unless you are emancipated. Once you are 18, you can get an account, but at your young age, you maybe required to put down a security deposit. Such a deposit can range from $100 - $1000.
