No, do NOT give liquid Benedryl. It is not necessary to give childrens Benedryl either. Liquid frequently contains unnecessary alcohol and childrens may contain sodium. Here is the website to help you with dosage:
Benedryl is a fairly safe drug to give your dog. It is good for itching as it stops the histamine response. It can also make a dog sleepy, just as it makes some humans sleepy. When in doubt, always give a lower dosage

When I see my chihuahua itching..into the bathtub it goes with my shampoo. I only give her dry Costco food with omega 3 and lots of vit.in it. I could probably eat it myself is need be. I only give her Vita Bones cause it too has vitamins in eat to raise her immune system to allergies.....and I live in the desert where everything makes me itch. I keep all weeds up really well though and house Vac and mopped well and never take her where other dogs have been. Wash her bedding often. Hope this can help. Zaydee is about 9 and very healthy, has markings like a doberman. Good luck my dear. Is there nothing in your favorite Pet shop for allergie pills?Be careful with human drugs

One Benadryl is 25 milligrams. If you have a 50 pound dog, you would give one tablet twice a day.
Since you have a small dog cut the tablet in quarters and give ONE quarter twice a day.
Giving the dog 1/2 tablet twice a day will not kill her but may make her very lethargic.
Before you do ANYTHING? CALL YOUR VET.

I would say no more than 2-3 times several hours apart.. But I'm no vet.. You could call and ask a vet. They usually don't charge to just ask a simple question.

Twice a day (every 12 hours), 1 tsp of regular strength LIQUID Benadryl. Unless recommended by a veterinarian if this doesn't resolve symptoms within 48 hours your puppy needs to see a doctor.

You need to be sure benadryl is the remedy for what ails your dog --- as in have him checked by a vet and make sure benadryl is what he needs.
If you are doing this to sedate your dog, constant use of benadryl will eventually cause some real problems, as in kidney failure at least.

Call your vet and ask. Only your vet can tell you how much your dog can personally handle.
