What have you done to cycle campaign in your country?
I live in the UK. Cycling is a minority transport option but growing, and growing too as a sport. I have always cycled and have seen a change of climate away and towards cycling in different respects. As a result of recent years I have felt compelled to write letters and emails to officials and public bodies in the hope of swaying positive change. I have also written letters to newspapers and magazines (half of which have actually been published). I have also managed to help several work colleagues get on to the saddle and given advice.
So what have you done in the way of swaying positive change and encouraging others to ride bikes? Anything really interesting or different?
Thanks!

I have written to various government bodies and other organizations. But in the end, the best thing I think a cyclist can do for cycling is to cycle lawfully and respectfully of other road users. As a person who uses a bicycle as his sole mode of personal transport, I tend to get a bit cynical whenever some cycling-specific event like 'Bike to Work' day comes along, because I don't think such events really help when most of those who participate simply go back to driving a car for the other 364 days of the year.

I ride my bike a lot and non-opped both my vehicles. I ride everywhere I go. Also, I take the time to speak with law enforcement about their stance on cycling and cyclists. Sometimes I am able to enter a dialog to help change opinions and prejudices found among local enforcement officers.
I obey the laws of the road. This shows some "on the fence" motorists that cyclists are not a group of lawless miscreants. In my area, we have a lot of racer types that blow through stop lights and signs and some motorists are actively hostile to all cyclists because of it.
I vote as a cyclist and question my local candidates about their stances regarding cycling rights before giving them my vote.
Little things, but I feel like I am at least doing something positive.

Give workshops to club members about bike maintenance, proper fitting, safe riding. Lead E category rides at the club.
