How do you know if your ps3 is able to play ps2 games?

    ps3's cant play ps2 only ps1 or ps3 or blueray if you dont trust me stick the disc in and a message will come up under games saying ? disk incompatable

    Put in a PS2 game and see if it works?

    But yeah only the original 60GB PS3's did, maybe a few other older models. But not recent ones

    khiyelsmith is correct. here is a link that shows you which ps3 models that will play ps2 games. remember though that even if you have a ps3 that is compatible, not all ps2 games can be played on that unit. follow the next links for info:

    You'll find 'PS2 Data' in USA and EU Store only, in Asia/Africa/Australia it is not available sorry!

    then you'd play only Original PS2 games not fake ones!
