George, Sonny, Earnie, had 'overall force' BUT: Was Lennox Lewis's Overhand Right boxing's MOST EXPLOSIVE SHOT?

George Foreman, Sonny Liston, and Earnie Shavers, had such great OVERALL FORCE in ALMOST ALL of their punches.

BUT

When we talk about ONE SINGLE SHOT, did the SINGLE 'MOST EXPLOSIVE' SHOT reside in the laser like OVERHAND RIGHT of Lennox Lewis?

I would say its a fair argument, either Klitchko may have more power in their strait right hands but they didn't have the speed with it Lewis had, and when Lewis through it he committed to it. I have always liked Lennox Lewis and rank him as one of the top 5 greatest heavyweight of all time but I think he would have been more popular and possible be regarded as the best heavyweight of all time had he just charged across the ring threw the jab and fired that right hand like he could.

He always tried to play the chess master, the smart savvy fighter when he should have been a big black, dread locked monster who charged across the ring, smashed his jab in your face and fired powerful strait right hands. The Lewis that came against Botha and Grant would be hard for any fighter anytime to defeat. The Lewis in second Rachman fight beats any heavyweight of any time.

As far as The Rock goes? who ever said it above me, You seriously think a 5'10 180 lb fighter had a more devastating right hand then a modern, 6'5 230 lb heavyweight?

I think the two most "explosive" punches in boxing heavyweight history are between Mike Tysons right uppercut and Lennox's Overhand right. But since Lewis had a more successful career and beat more top level opponents I would personally give it to Lewis.

  • No, that belonged to the awesome right hand of the only undefeated heavyweight boxing champion, the Brockton Blockbuster, Rocky Marciano ; the punch was called the "Suzy Q".

Watch Liston knock out Albert Westphal, and then decide.

I would have to say yes. Watching how his huge frame and height came down with that power punch sends chills.

I rank Tyson's squat and explode left hook higher

lewis was more of a technical fighter than a power puncher so i would have to say no
