Have you received a silent call where the line has then remained dead for several hours?
This happened to me on Saturday. I had 3 silent calls within 10 minutes. After the third call I put the receiver back down again, then picked it up. The line was 'dead'. I put the receiver down again, and over the following few hours checked the line. Nothing. If the caller keeps their phone off the hook, can it cause your phone to remain silent, and prevent others from calling you?
The line has been working normally since Saturday evening. I did arrange for a British Telecom engineer to check the line for Tuesday 30th August, but have cancelled the visit as the line is now working.

What you are referring is called "calling party hold" and here in the US it typically last for about 30 seconds. I am wondering if your 3 silent calls were actually an indicator that your line going into trouble.
