Could you but cheap clearance jewelry from kmart and get more money for it at a gold for cash place?
Theres a jewelry store by me that gives much better prices than an official Gold for Cash store does. I'd feel weird going to kmart with a scale to get a really good idea.

NO! The reason the prices are so cheap at Kmart is because it is probably only 10k gold or gold plated. In that case, the jewelry store wouldn't give you that much money for 10K and wouldn't even buy the gold plated. You will NEVER make money from buying jewelry retail price then reselling it. When jewelry stores buy gold, they weigh it and take into consideration that karat of gold. The higher the weight and the karat, the more money. So more likely the pieces at Kmart are 10k gold and probably weigh light. For example, if you purchased a 10k gold ring weighing only 2 grams that would get you about 20 bucks....not worth it, if you're paying around 80

That "cheap clearance jewelry" is not very likely to contain much real gold. And the "Cash for Gold" stores generally offer only pennies on the dollar for whatever amount of gold you give them, so the chances of you making a profit are vanishingly slim.
