Skateboarding Beginner?
I want to start skateboarding. I'm already pretty sure that skateboarding, like most things, isn't all easy and 'peaches and cream'. That doesn't mean I don't want to do it. So I'm wondering what are some tips and some things I need to know. Some questions I have are:
*How/When did you learn to skateboard?
*What kind of skateboard should I buy as a beginner? (I don't have a lot of money for a skateboard, but I'm thinking buying one from Wal-Mart may be a bad idea)
*What are some basic things to start off learning?
*What should I start off doing?
Also I'm sixteen, 100 pounds, and I'm about five feet tall if that matters. I'm not really scared of falling off, or the possible cuts, scratches, and bruises (:
Thanks in advance!

I used to skateboard as a kid and my kids love it now. Just make sure you wear all of your pads and a helmet. You need to make sure you have good medical insurance. I'm not kidding. Most of your wipe outs will be minor but you might get hurt. Just watch a few youtube videos on skating and you will see.
It isn't a bad idea to go to Walmart. If you get an inexpensive board and you loose interest its not a big deal. Then if you really love it, head on down to Dick's Sporting Goods and get yourself a really good one. Start off my skating on level ground til you get the hang of it. Got to crawl before you can walk. If you live in the right areas, snow boarding and surfing are two good alternatives.
