Will no one stand up for the reproductive rights of domesticated dogs?

I won't (despite having a lot of respect for mutts, heck some of my best dogs have been mutts), just wondered if anybody would.

The dog is an animal who cannot regulate its own numbers...Dogs will breed on every heat cycle, no matter what, if given the chance.

Wolves don't do this, but we have bred the things that keep wolves from over-breeding themselves out of dogs...

It is our duty to the species to keep their numbers under control...or risk an overpopulation worse than what we have. Many people breed their dogs when they shouldn't, creating more unwanted puppies...those puppies are the ones who suffer.

Humans are also a species incapable of controlling its own numbers...but that's for another question....

I won't. I've worked at a shelter and seen too many dogs waiting for homes, and some never get them and are euthanized. Now that I think of it, there was somebody on here a while ago ranting about how unfair it was to dogs to be neutered. Few, if anybody, agreed with that.

Judging by the number of stray dogs in animal shelters that have to be put down every year, no, I don't think anyone in his or her right mind would stand up for the "reproductive rights" of domesticated dogs. The more spayed/neutered dogs, the fewer dogs that die because no one is around to take care of them.

Spay/neuter your animals because you love them and aren't a fan of euthanization.

Owned animals do not have reproductive rights. Stray domestic animals reproduce at will and as a result, live short, deprived lives with very high mortality rates.

I believe that if dogs understood how very many of them are killed every day due to a lack of homes that the dogs would LINE UP AND BEG to be spayed and neutered.

Dogs don't have rights, reproductive or otherwise.

Come to think of it, some humans shouldn't have the right to procreate either....
