It depends on what you cross the black cat with.If you cross the black cat with another type of Cat its fine, but if you cross the black cat with another type of animal(like say some type of dog) the results could be disastrous.

The cat being dead is absolutely irrelevant... because a dead cat can't 'Cross your Path', can it?

Seeing a black cat (alive or dead), petting a black cat, owning a black cat... have nothing to do with the 'luck' story.

It's the 'Crossing the Path' that's the important part in the superstition.

As to whether it's good luck or bad luck, that depends which way the cat crosses.

If it crosses from right to left, that's Bad Luck. That's your luck going from good (right) to bad (left).

Left is traditionally a sign of ill-omen - it is the origin of the word 'sinister'.

If teh kitteh crosses from left to right, that's your luck turning to the good!

It's all rubbish, of course, but... that's the story.

    Hope that helps!

yesterday a black cat ran across the road you were driving on , and today the same cat is dead on the side of the road? No mystery here- he got hit because he was in the road. That's bad luck for him. It does nothing to you.

I have a black cat. Does that mean im going to be unlucky for as long as it lives here and walks around me every single day?

No... dont think about silly things like that. Its just a cat that has black fur. There's ginger, brown, white, and so many more cats. Just like humans, and I dont think a human with black hair is unlucky...

as for the fact it was dead. It got hit by a car clearly. Seeing as how you saw it cross the road it wasnt afraid of roads or cars, and cats who arent afraid of roads usually get hit by cars. You saw it on the same road because cats have territories, so they always wander around the same area. Its normal, and its definately NOT BAD!

It depends. Have any other black cats crossed your path? If so, what happened afterward, good things or bad things? With the cat died, this may be a way of saying that this string of good/bad luck may be coming to an end. For me, black cats crossing my path have signified good luck. If a black cat had died the day after I got good luck from it, I would defiantly be ready for bad luck to begin.

Depends on what a black cat symbolizes to you. To me a black cat is a positive symbol so to see it dead would either be a coincidence a streak of good luck coming to an end. For others the black cat symbolizes bad luck, so to see it dead could mean an end to a streak of misfortune or it was just a coincidence and it may not be the same cat.

Well if a black cat passes u it is supposed to be bad luck but if the cat died that must mean the cat has horrible luck as well lol.

It was extremely bad for the cat to cross the road. That particular cat may have been drunk.

Cats crossing your path have absolutely zero effect on you. Not unless you physically run into them and hurt them. You could sit there and have a million black cats walk across your path and it wouldn't affect your 'luck'. You'd just be bored.

I was always told that white cats were bad luck by my parents. but most other people in the US see black cats as bad luck...I dont' think that they are though. I also don't think that white cats are bad luck. It sounds like the only one with bad luck in this situation was the cat.
