In Yugioh, do field spells target monsters on the field?
If I have a Spirit Reaper on the field, and a Mystic Plasma Zone active, will the field spell destroy my Spirit Reaper? I don't think so, but I need some clarification on this.

No, it does not target in any way shape or form. Global and continuous effects do not target so will not kill Spirit Reaper.

a card that can destroy spirit reaper is shadow spell because it SELECTS your spirit reaper.
compulsory evacuation device, soul exchange and change of heart can also destroy your spirit reaper because it selects or targets your spirit reaper.
Spirit Reaper is destroyed when a card effect targets him only.

no! the card has to say "select one monster" or something like that to target.
