Clipping the wings is not painful for the bird and the feathers will grow back in a few months. Of course the bird will not be happy with it while it lasts but it will speed up the taming process significantly. For the bird to be frightened of its owner is much more torture than having its wings clipped temporary.

So I say you should clip just this once, and work on bonding with the bird and taming it while the feathers grow back. :)

If you don't want to clip it's wing you will never get it tamed. You can use paperclip and hang it on it's wing. When you get it tamed you pull the paperclip out, way better than clipping. Or you can use a harness. It is a rope that you can tie to it. If you want it to fly, say bye- bye to this one. You need to understand bird's behaviour and do more research.

You don't want to clip it's wings but that is the only way to stop it flying away.
