My son just passed GCE with One A and 2Bs so he cannot join Manchester University. I want him to be Doctor but?

He wants to be a Pharmacist. Is there any University or college where i can register him for Doctor degree.

I would suggest he gets career support from his college/6th form. If that's not possible, take him to connexions, they should be able to help.

Firstly, I have no idea what your son studied, if he studies drama, history, and art for his A levels, then he would not be able to become a doctor with those, that bit of information is pretty important.

Secondly, medicine is a VERY competitive field. One A and two Bs in unlikely to get him anywhere good. Perhaps he should rethink his plans, and be more realistic, if he's not cut out for medicine, he's not cut out for it.

Thirdly, why are you trying to push your son to be a doctor when he doesn't want to? This is his decision to make, not yours, so you should let him take his own choice, AND LET HIM LIVE HIS LIFE.

So, as I said, get in touch with his college or Connexions and look for some advice, but it may be that you and your son may need to be brought back down to earth and be realistic about his options.

I would disagree with WOAH, I know people who barely passed their GCSE's on retakes and didn't even have one A level, who are now in medical school. I would suggest phoning up some universities and talk to them about it. Also as someone else suggested he can go through clearing or also have a talk with connexions.

But do you realise that he trouble succeeding in a field he is not interested in? If he doesn't want to be a doctor he will struggle due to his lack of interest in that type of career.

    Good Luck,

    EDIT:

But the person I know who got into med school did a degree in Biological Science after their Applied Science Btech. So if he is interested he could maybe do this type of degree. It would open doors into a wide range of medical careers.
