what do you think of the dune book series?

So I saw this series at the libary. I wanted to know what people thought of it. I really love the sword of truth series, just to give you an idea of what I like to read.

I looked it up and there were some prelude books. I'm just wondering if I should read the original 'dune' first or the prelude books first even though they were written later....
