was my boyfriend right for making fat jokes about me?

i asked him yesterday for reasurrance if i was slim/curvy or fat...i was hoping he woulda said curvy to make me feel good..instead he said i had chubby arms, chubby legs and stomach... then said he was only joking and i couldnt take a joke. He said then admitted he did it for revenge since i noticed he put on a lot of weight on his stomach since he came out of hospital and had eaten loads of hospital food and gained a noticable ammount of weight on his stomach, but even his brother told him that....he lost the weight anyway.

anyway these comments have caused us to split as i no longer feel comfortable with my body with him. Do you think he was right for getting revenge on me in this way?

No. he was wrong because any decent relationship shouldnt involve "getting back" at the other person. Especially not in such a nasty way. Revenge shouldnt exist in love, and anyone who can resort to that and think they'll have a good relationship is nothing but a fool. Especially because you didnt mean to hurt him to begin with, and he wanted to hurt you back. I'd say KeSha is talented before i hurt my girlfriend, and thats saying alot of anyone.

Sounds like you were attention seeking. If he blatantly lied and said that you're quite skinny, would you be happy for him lying to you just to keep you happy? And because he was honest, you went in a huff with him. He didn't lie to you so why make a big deal out of it? I think you should stop attention seeking if you're unable to deal with honest answers to your questions about your weight.

well if you called him fat, then yes i think you deserved it, regardless of whether he lost the weight or not. but if you didn't call him fat, or make rude comments about the weight he had gained FROM BEING IN THE HOSPITAL. then no you didn't deserve it.

it is a little rude, but you asked the question. if he did it for revenge, then i guess you have to belive him. he wasnt relly making fat jokes, he was just being a little rude, thats all.
